Who counts as a competitor?
The competitors you choose to track. Lens suggests them from your website and from the answers, and you can change the list at any time.
Lens feature
In Lens, share of voice is your brand’s share of all the times AI answers name your brand or one of the competitors you track. Lens counts every mention across every prompt and AI platform in an analysis, so the shares add up to 100% and you can see who AI names instead of you.

A mention counts each time an answer names a brand. A prompt that failed, or one where Google showed no AI Overview, is left out, so a missing answer never counts against anyone. Brand perception prompts are left out too, so share of voice reflects the questions buyers ask about your category.
Lens finds competitors when it reads your website and suggests more from the answers themselves. You choose which to track; how many depends on the plan. If answers use another name or website for a rival, or for your own brand, you can tell Lens, so every mention is counted under the right company.
Besides share, Lens records where your brand appears in each answer relative to the competitors you track, and your visibility per topic and per AI platform. A topic by platform grid shows where you are strong and where you are absent.
Trend lines follow share of voice across analyses. Comparing two to four analyses shows which prompts you gained or lost, with the answers behind each change.

Each AI platform draws on different sources and models, so the same question can name different brands on ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Overviews. Lens shows each platform separately.
Yes, when Google shows an AI Overview for the prompt. When it does not, the prompt is left out instead of counting as a miss.
